Does YouTube have DMs?
No. YouTube removed its built-in messages in September 2019. To reach viewers, reply to comments, pin one with your link, or post in the Community tab.
YouTube's messaging feature closed on September 18, 2019. YouTube said it wanted to focus on public conversations, and there's no DM feature that apps can use.
So on YouTube, "comment to get the link" works differently:
- Reply to each comment with the link. Rotate a few wordings so the replies don't look automated.
- Pin a comment with the link, so everyone sees it.
- Put the link in the description and say "link below" in the video.
Apps can reply to comments through YouTube's API, within a daily quota.
